Joy, 14 – Maternal Health, Nutrition, Economic Empowerment

Thika, Kenya: Joy, age 14, who became pregnant by a soldier in Kenya when she “exchanged” sex for food and school fees. She is so small that she needed a c-section as she could not deliver the baby. Now we provide a caregiver to help her with the baby as she recovers, shelter, and food. And when she is ready, we will provide a training course for her as she prefers to learn a trade than return to school.
